Meet Miranda (MJ)

Brave Work Coach, Creator & Community Connector

I am an avid life explorer and champion enabler. What excites me most is the prospect of never feeling stagnant, while helping others find meaningful work that aligns with their biggest values and passions.

Variety is what keeps me engaged with my work, and it’s why I wear a few different hats every day: Brave Work coach, co-founder of community-focused arts non-profit exhi[bits], and Ops & Creative Director for design consulting firm Strong Share Corp.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English and Ethics from UBC, a Post Degree Diploma in HR and am a trained mindfulness coach and 3C leadership program facilitator through ALIC.

When it comes to cheerleading others while they reinvent/rediscover themselves, I’m a fan of breaking the rules, questioning the status quo, and finding creative ways to make work a seamless, aligned, and integrated facet of life.

Labels that fit for me in various moments: writer, artist, accomplice, coach, entrepreneur, listener, learner, athlete, examiner, facilitator, and dreamer.

Places you can find me: jog-walking mountain trails, playing in the garden, building things, cooking plant-powered experiments, meditating, or binge-listening to true crime podcasts while eating cookies (because it’s all about balance).

Brave Work Coach & People + Culture Advisor

With over two decades of experience in human resources and rehabilitation counselling, I’ve dedicated my career to supporting individuals through their career transitions, including those facing health, disability, and other life challenges. I have a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counselling and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Human Resource Management, which equip me with the insights needed to guide people toward work that has meaning for them. I also hold professional designations as Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) and Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and pursue continuing education to keep my knowledge fresh.

I look forward to bringing my passion for people+work to the Brave Work community. I believe in a personalized, strengths-based approach to career coaching, where we collaborate to create tailored plans that align with each individual's skills, values and aspirations. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with a wide variety of people, from university faculty and staff to transitioning Canadian Armed Forces personnel, helping them navigate change with confidence.

Outside of my professional pursuits, I support charities that lift children out of poverty. I’m also a lover of historical fiction and biographies, a proud dog parent, and a beach enthusiast with a passion for good food and travel. As a wife and mother of two teenage boys, my home is full of vibrant energy and a soundtrack that rivals a rock concert. As someone who leans towards the quieter side and values reflection, I’m eager to contribute to the Brave Work mission, helping others discover the work they were made for and encouraging them in their own journeys.
